This adapter allows the bladder to be properly filled without hyper-extending the gum rubber liner and inducing a dry rot situation. Simply unscrew the brass valve/pin, screw on the funnel fill adapter, bring water to temperature, hold the funnel under water faucet, and fill bladder to desired pressure.
